Nature of organizational communication has been described in the first chapter of this book. The importance of communication organization, the main elements of communication process and the nature of communication research have also been discussed in this chapter. Different approach of communication research have been mentioned in this chapter.Chapter 2 is about organizational behavior. There are three retools of the organizational behavior (1) scientific management school (2) Human relation school, (3) the systems school the scientific management school did not accord a very significant role to communication but the human relation school opposite to the scientific management school. On the other hand the system school viewed an organization as an open system that imputes and outputs information to its environment acress its boundary.

Chapter three is about open system theory and organizational environments. This theory is assigned communication on high priority in under standing organizational behavior. This theory influenced organizational scholars to look outside the organization's boundary at environmental variables for fuller explanations of organizational behavior. An organization is more liely to innovate when its relevant environment is rapidly changing than when its is steady. An organization's climate exerts a storey influence on its members behaviors.

Chapter — 4 is related to the effect of organizational structure on communication behavior usually, organizational structure is a determinant of communication behavior, accusingly, it is a consequence of communication behavior, One purpose of structure is an organization is to provide stability regularity and predictability. One of the most important functions of organizational structure is to restrict communication flows and thus decrease problems of information overload. Informal communication is always of some importance in an organization or not the formal communication channels are functioning adequately.

Chapter -5 The Purpose of this chapter was to describe what is known about communication networks in organizations. A network consist s of interconnected individuals who are linked by patterned communication flows. Networks depicture The (Micro" aspects of communication in the "Macro" setting of organizations. The importance of networks is suggested by the existence of system effects, the influences of others in a system on the behavior of an individual member of the system; such effects are exerted on the individual through his communication network relationships. Network analysis is a method of research for identifying the communication flows or patterns are analyzed by utilizing interpersonal relationships as the units of analysis.

Three relational levels at which communication relationships can be studied are : (1) personal communication network (2) Cliques (3) Systems

The last chapter of this book is innovation in organization. The highlight of this chapter is : Those structural characterized of an organization that facilitate initiation of the innovation progress by opening the organization to its environment make its difficult for the organization to implement the innovation. Perception of a performance gape in an organization create a search for new alternative, including innovation. An innovation is essentially reinvented by each organization that adopts it, as it goes through extensive revision in the process of adoption and implementation and organization is essential for the adoption of an innovation. Innovation in organization is related to organizational effectiveness.
