The International Convenient on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) 1966 provides "Every human being has the inherent right to life. This shall be protected by law. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life.

Right means a claim of some interests advised by on individual or a group of individuals which has either moral or legal basis and which is essential for his development in the society.

According to Holland, "Right means a capacity residing in one man of controlling with the assent and assistance of the state, the actions of others".

Salmond defines that, "Rights means and interest recognized and protected by the law respect for which is a duty and disregard of which is a wrong." and Salmond further said a right involves the following criteria- (i) a person invested with right entitled (ii) a person or persons or that right imposes a correlative duty or obligation (iii) a title or reason for the right becoming vested in the owner.

J, Martian stated that, "That human person possessor rights because of the very fact that it is a person, a whole, master of itself and of its acts, and which consequently is not merely a means to an end, but an end, an end which must be treated as such (and) the human person in the subject to rights, possesses rights. These are things which are owned to man because of the very fact that he is man."
