Industrial report on Pacific Jeans Ltd

Pacific Jeans Ltd. is a world class casual wear manufacturing company known for its state of the art production facility, extensive and unique research and development center and high skilled resources which has transformed a small garments factory established in 1984 into a supreme institution of premium jeans design and manufacturing house. At present, Pacific Jeans Ltd. is one of the leading premium jeans manufacturers, employing 22000 people, producing over 30 million jeans every year and exporting to over 25 countries.Pacific Jeans Ltd. produces jeans garments which are worldly recognized. Mainly it imports denim fabric as raw materials from various countries or supplied by buyers. Then the final garments are made by using different processes such as cutting, sewing, dyeing, dry processing, washing and finishing. In my report I tried to include all of the processes used by the Pacific Jeans Ltd.

I mainly include in this report all of my experience gathered from Pacific Jeans Ltd., about the chemicals it uses such as Dyes, Softeners, Resins, Fixing Agents and others necessary auxiliaries and with its various functions.
Besides, about the different procedures of garments dyeing mainly reactive dyeing, Direct dyeing, Pigment dyeing and Sulpher dyeing and also washing processes i.e. Bleach wash, Caustic wash, Enzyme wash, Stone wash etc. In addition, dry processes it uses on jeans includes Whisker, Scraping, Grinding, Laser printing, Potassium Permanganate Spray etc

1.0 Introduction
Industrial attachment is an essential part of B.Sc. Textile Engineering course of Bangabandhu Textilte Engineering College, Tangail. As a textile graduate one should have a practical experience in the study of Textile Technology, Machineries, products and over all situation of the factory before work in the Industry. I had the opportunity to perform the Industrial attachment with Pacific Jeans Ltd.

Pacific Jeans Ltd. is a modern technology integrated industry. The textile division has the capacity to offer a complete product range for the export oriented textiles markets. The goal of the textile division is to become the preferred partner for exporting high quality Garment Washing from Bangladesh. With highly advanced technology and an emphasis on developing local human resources, the textile division has the potential to make an important contribution garments export sector.
The ratio behind the existing structure and future expansion of the textile division is to capture value added at each stage of the textile manufacturing process. Despite Bangladesh’s lack of indigenous cotton production capability, Pacific Jeans Ltd. has leveraged Bangladesh’s labor cost advantage and export competitiveness to the maximum.

As a part of our course curriculum of Bangabandhu Textilte Engineering College, I was sent for industrial attachment for three month from August 1, 2011 to October 31, 2011 at Pacific Jeans Ltd. a Denim Washing Factory. During the attachment I worked as a Trainee Student.

1.1 Objectives of Industrial Attachment
This industrial attachment report is prepared primarily to fulfill the B.Sc in Textile Engineering program requirement of Wet Processing Department of Bangabandhu Textile Engineering College. However, the objectives of this report are:
ü To enhance learning experience through involvement in industrial and commercial field, thus enabling us to relate theoretical concepts with practical situations.
ü To develop and enhance our professional awareness and communication skills.
ü Undertaken problem solving activities in the workplace:
ü Understood the constraints of a formal working environment and the benefits of team work.
 Appreciated the relevance of my academic work and have applied this to new situations.
ü Acquired the experience to understand, discuss and evaluate the professional issues relating to textile engineering.
