Social Islami Bank Limited is a commercial bank with 64 branches across major cities in Bangladesh and 1252 full time employees on year end 2010. It was incorporated as a Public Limited Company under Companies Act, 1994 on July 5, 1995 as an interest-free Shariah bank in Bangladesh. The Bank started commercial banking operations from November 22, 1995 with an authorized capital of Tk 1,000 million divided into 1 million ordinary shares of Tk 1,000 each. The initial paid up capital was Tk 118.36 million fully subscribed by its 38 sponsors including 3 Arab nationals.

The main purpose of the program is to know the real world situation and to get a glimpse of the corporate culture. In this regard, I have the opportunity to submit the report from my experience while working as an Internee in Principal Branch of Social Islami Bank Ltd (SIBL). Only theoretical knowledge without any practical experience makes a person sterile. On the other hand a person having practical experience but no theoretical exposure keeps him blind. The internship program is designed to overcome such sterile position. Here, I got an opportunity to realize the relevance and usefulness of the classroom learning and day to day operational experience in Social Islami Bank Limited.

ELT is a widely used teacher centered term as in ELT division of large publishing house; ELT training etc. Now-a-days ELT is a burning subject for higher studies in the context of Bangladesh. Many public universities as well as private universities offer courses on ELT. In this research the researcher made a comparison between the ELT course of IER and English department of DU and showed a way of enriching the course contents of ELT of IER. The main purpose of the study was to compare the course contents of ELT of IER and English Department of Dhaka University and thus find out the differences between these two. It also focused on the effectiveness of the ELT course of IER. Moreover it guided to modify the ELT course of IER. From the review of the literature, the researcher came to know that no such research was done before in IER or English department of Dhaka University. But, there were some studies found in both IER and TTC which were partially related to the study.
