Violence against women is a common social phenomenon all over the world. It is not a problem for women only, but also a great obstacle in the path of world peace, progress and development. It is one of main hindrance in the process of establishing social equality and justice. It is thought that “women’s rights around the world are an important indicator to understand global well-being.”1 Violence against women refers to any private or public act that is likely to humiliate their physical, cultural, religious and traditional values, which perpetuate patriarchal attitudes at different levels of society and restrict human empowerment. In their underpowered state, women have minimal access to material resources and as such lack autonomy and decision-making authority. From philosophical view, “women were, historically, the first oppressed group.”2 In Bangladesh women are victimized by different kinds of violence. Most common acts of violence are torture, acid throwing, dowry, kidnapping. Among these types rape is one and the most important issue. As an ongoing social problem Rape is on dreadful increase in the recent time.

In this competitive world education background that means from where a student belongs that in the most important factor in job market. Now In Bangladesh there are more than 100 public and private university established but only a few university are renowned because of their educational techniques, experience of faculty members and development of the updated technologies. When a student complete their higher secondary level even after completing graduating it is really tough for him to make an appropriate decision that where he admit for graduation or post graduation, In this tough situation that people listed university of Dhaka at top because of university of Dhaka is one the best university in the world. Due to reputation, having a lot of experienced teacher it ranked at top in Asia. So as a sincere and career oriented student it was my dream to be a student of university of Dhaka.

Thesis on a Comparative Study between the Course Contents of ELT of Institute of Education and Research (IER) and English Department of Dhaka University

ELT is a widely used teacher centered term as in ELT division of large publishing house; ELT training etc. Now-a-days ELT is a burning subject for higher studies in the context of Bangladesh. Many public universities as well as private universities offer courses on ELT. In this research the researcher made a comparison between the ELT course of IER and English department of DU and showed a way of enriching the course contents of ELT of IER. The main purpose of the study was to compare the course contents of ELT of IER and English Department of Dhaka University and thus find out the differences between these two. It also focused on the effectiveness of the ELT course of IER. Moreover it guided to modify the ELT course of IER. From the review of the literature, the researcher came to know that no such research was done before in IER or English department of Dhaka University. But, there were some studies found in both IER and TTC which were partially related to the study.
